Mega Man X

Here's my first submission, which is my latest quick illustration.  I've been using the Samsung Note series for many years, primarily for the built-in stylus.  It makes it incredibly easy to get out that itch I get to doodle something.

I don't know why, but Mega Man X has always been something of a challenge for me to draw.  He has wild proportions with his exceptionally large hands/wrists and lower legs/boots.  Drawing his chest armor and helmet have also been challenging.  However, recently, I realized that I perhaps have been going about it improperly.  When I sketch the rough frame, I include the armor already in the skeleton.  I believe that screws up my proportions, as well as finding the anatomic landmarks I use to draw the rest of his body.  This time around, I framed X without the armor, then, when satisfied with the proportions, sketched the armor on top.  I went back with my inking pen tool, and traced over my skeleton WITH the armor, and was very satisfied with the results.

Coloring is so much fun for me to do, especially since I (embarrassingly) recently discovered what "alpha channels" can do.  It more than halved my coloring time.

Anyway, here's the Blue Bomber.  Hero to one of my favorite all-time game franchises (Mega Man X2 is my absolute favorite game in the series, in case you were wondering).
